meowzers

Here is a vintage mobile picture of me taken a few years ago when I was cat sitting for the summer, which was nice because I also got to live rent-free for 3 months. The little beast was a horror, though, often pouncing on me, going into constant heat and exhibiting signs of self multilation. It had suffered some kind of brain damage after falling from a 5 story building, and was constantly reminding me that it existed. Poor little meowzers.

This photo also illustrates how far mobile picture quality has come in the last few years…

wig out

A couple of gems I took in Northern Virginia reveal a distinct schism between northern and southern ideologies concerning what makes one beautiful. Though I can easily see this display showcasing gender confused mannequins in trendy, ironic Williamsburg, Brooklyn, it resides in traditional Alexandria. The only laughs were about the silly tourist taking pictures with his cell phone.

green light, go!

When I was younger the yellow at traffic lights was always my favorite of the three options presented to me. This was due mostly in part because it was more elusive than the other two, cautioning oncoming traffic for a fraction of the time that its counterparts did. This somehow made it more special to me. Now that I am older, green is my favorite because it is the least restrictive of the three. The older I get the less I want to stop or slow down.

a nightmare on humboldt street (brrrrrrrrr!!!)

This is every Polish family’s worst nightmare come true. Dead bodies, evil ghouls and zombies that eternally puke…all this and real estate prices are still on the rise in Greenpoint? What. The. Fuck? Not even the bad techno that the natives blast in their Hummers can scare away this tumor on Humboldt street.  Eeeeeeeekkk!!!

scream blacula scream

I just watched a cult classic on Netflix, Scream Blacula Scream. Though not a pivotal Pam Grier performance, I do recommend it for some great campy blaxploitation fun. Here are some mobile pictures I took while watching it.

tick tock

Essentially this is what I’ve felt like all day while waiting for the clock to strike 6:

And this is what I will look like exiting the building:

Happy weekend!

smile little bunny…

…Halloween is merely one week away. That’s right little bunny…one week!

barack-o-lanterns!!!

These air filled jack-o-lanterns were up on October 1st. Though surprised about their early entry on the outdoor holiday decor front, I was pleased that someone was on the ball about this wonderful holiday we call Halloween.

Check out this site with pumpkins that is just brimming with political propaganda for the whole family to enjoy!

black rabbit

One of the redeeming qualities of living in Greenpoint is the Black Rabbit bar, my favorite haunt that is located at 91 Greenpoint Ave. It serves as the perfect escape from the perpetual weirdness of the David Lynch-ish world of little Poland that characterizes Greenpoint. Dark wooden booths, red ceilings and an ornate bar all work together to whisk me away to times of yore, where people were literary and wore really funny outfits without the irony. Here is a mobile picture of our lovely bartender tending to a round of absinthe. Bottoms up!
