I have noticed some ads on the trains lately promoting the way overpriced, douche-filled-to-capacity bowling facility, Bowlmor. In addition to an awful stock photo from the 90’s of a girl enjoying her appletini amongst friends, the poster also boasts that the Olsens and other A-listers have graced the lanes of Bowlmor. Is this the reason why a pitcher of beer and two games will set you back nearly $60? If anything, they should be paying us to put up with having to deal with celebrity  riffraff.

excitement at the polls!

It was a virtual who’s who at the local voting center in Greenpoint. There was Peyton, a friend and neighbor who confessed that the voting process confused her more than she thought it would. Upon waving to Peyton, the woman standing in front of me asked me if that was my friend, and when I replied yes, I was then informed that Peyton should not be wearing buttons that promote one candidate one way or the other. “Oh, I don’t really know her that well,” was my swift response.

Then there was the couple I always see on the subway platform and the gym, the tall lanky dude from Permanent Records, the questionable gay guy that used to work in the same building as me, and countless other local stars! More excitement happened when a man tried to reprimand a woman for going into the voter booth to assist her adult special needs child with the process. Whoa boy!  It was an exhilarating process to say the least.

Do it for the polar bears, not special needs! The last thing we need right now is a disgruntled frat boy, senior citizen edition, and his wife, Skeletor, in the White House. Vote!
