oooooooh nooooooo….i will miss y’all

I am flying to Los Angeles tomorrow for work, which means that I will not be able to blog for a while. Oh noooooo! Please continue to spread your love all over me though by e-mailing your exciting mobile photos. I’ll be sure to squeeze some in while out west.

fishes!!

Like the pivotal scene where Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes see one another for the first time in the 1996 film Romeo + Juliet, my friend John Craver and I had dueling mobile phones while saying hi to some fish friends.

This is what I saw:

Please feel free to play “I’m Kissing You” by Des’ree on repeat while viewing this post.

come on ride the train….choo choo!!

Today I had the pleasure of visiting the Red Caboose, a hobby shop that has been a staple on west 45h street since 1946. Apparently the dormant asbestos in the shop has gotten to the owner, Allan, as he seems overly excited to tell you everything you didn’t want to know about train kits, rocket ships and miniature cities. Hobby shops aren’t cheap, but you will find some amazing vintage trains, buses and airplanes here.  It was refreshing to be in a shop that still has that old New York spirit of hardcore bizarreness. Choo choo!!! Come and hop on my Chattanooga please!

Here is Allan and his cat ringing us up at the register.

zanzibar!

Zanzibar is a beautiful Tanzanian  island in the Indian Ocean, where Marty Gross recently visited for a weekend while studying in Tanzania for a month. Zanzibar has everything you would expect of a thriving African tourist destination:

Sugar cane!

Luxury accommodations!

Bric-a-brac!

Fancy throw pillows!

And of course, some tired old pussy resting on a stoop.

Viva Zanzibar!!

thirsty pussy

This pussy has a thirst that knows no bounds. It even pretends to be human so as to lick up the beverage in the manmade  liquid holding vessel that has been left behind. This mobile photo by Karen Radman just reaffirms my love for all pussy.

wintery greenpoint

The snow keeps on falling this winter, punishing and reminding us at the same time of the mild winter we had last year. “Payback is a bitch,” says Mother Nature, whose moods have gathered more and more media coverage in the last couple of years. It seems like Mother Nature is definitely on the rag this winter, as we keep getting bitter cold day after bitter cold day thrown at us. It would be one thing if New York implemented the snow day system that everywhere else in the country follows, but unfortunately we are more than equipped to deal with inclement weather, which forces us to peel our warm bodies out of bed and out into the cold.

Here are some wintery delights by Victoria Belanger.  The first image is of the Saint Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, located on Manhattan Ave.

This one resembles a street that is part of the historic section of Greenpoint.

The 80’s are done. Over. Hang up your Boy Toy belts, pack away the Atari once and for all and please undo that velcro on your sneakers. Get a life, get a job and get a sense for the here and now. Thanks.

sunrise over greenland

Marty Gross just returned to the United States from a month-long stint in Africa, taking many mobile pictures that will be posted on here shortly. We’ll start with these 2 delectable gems, which resemble album covers of bands from the 70’s. Dark side of Greenland anyone? Hehehehehehehe….oh boy!

parade of bathroom beasts

The other day Maya was babysitting a little boy who locked himself in the bathroom. When she went to check on the child, he kept repeating “one more minute.” One would think that the boy would be dealing with some intense digestive issues, but upon opening the door, Maya discovered a virtual Noah’s arc right there on the floor next to the toilet. Kudos to Miss Judd for documenting this little cutesy endeavor.

mother heroic

Ronan Haughton snapped this mobile pic of his mother while visiting his family home in Ireland for the first time in nearly 2 years. A nice peaceful moment for mom lovers everywhere.
