The forecast for this weekend is optimistic. A high of 70 on Saturday? An end to this never ending winter? A giant glass of lemonade??

Don’t mind if I do.

Thanks Karen.

river glitch

Karen sent in this glitchy iPhone pic of the Hudson river. One of the better results I’ve seen so far…

glitchy times are here again

iPhones continue to glitch across the nation, creating digital masterpieces for us to enjoy in the process. Maya Judd sent in three of her glitches:

This mobile picture of Times Square is reflective of the real thing: blocky and disorienting.

This tranquil bedroom setting at the local Ikea is broken apart into conflicting lines and shapes.

And this glitch looks like the distant cousin of the Master Control Program from the Tron movie.

iPhone glitch movement

It was brought to my attention that there is a whole “movement” out on the web about the iPhone glitch that I recently blogged about. You can read about it here: http://www.designassembly.org/2008/12/08/iphone-cubism and see more iPhone glitch fun here: www.iphonecubism.com. Thanks to Dave Selman for bringing this to my attention, and remember, feel free to send in some glitchy goodness my way as well.

I don’t have a recent glitch photo to post, but I do think that this mobile picture that my mom sent me a while ago is the perfect way to start the week. A happy pancake from IHOP.

crystal castles GLITCH

David Selman submitted this mobile picture of a recent Crystal Castles performance. Taken with a trusty iPhone camera, the photo is glitched! Selman remarked on the coolness of “how it blacked out everything but that one horizontal strip and the spotlight.” Cool indeed!

happy accidents

Happy accidents are what paved the way for alternative processes that stemmed out of traditional photography. Gumoils, Kallitypes, Chrysotypes, Daguerrotypes, and Bromoils are just some of the STD sounding names for processes practiced in overpriced art schools across the nation. So as the trend is less chemical, more technology, it can be said that experimentation in photography is  at an all time low, and that darkroom processes are delegated to the esoteric.

Not true, asserts fellow co-worker Jon Parker. As he has been trying to “embrace the crappiness” of his iPhone camera, it has yielded some corruptions that are fit to be put up in a gallery in Chelsea. This could lead to broken or corrupt iPhones to be part of a photo curriculum sometime in the future. Here are some of Jon’s photos from said iPhone.
